I mean, bring a box of whatever you need, bring a change of clothing. You might not be able to go to work the next DOVEKEEPERSAsked point blank if Shakespearean meant dead – a not-unreasonable presumption given the explosion that ended last night’s episode, with Ziva’s family farmhouse in Israel apparently blown to bits by terrorists – Weatherly responded “I think it’s more than that, a lot more. We knew we had to touch on for possible return visits to NCIS as a guest star, Weatherly said “I believe in the franchise of NCIS very much. I would absolutely be open to anything and everything, including things that no one’s even thought of yet. So the long answer is yes.”As for his immediate post-NCIS plans, Weatherly said, “We’ll see what happens this week with Bull,” the CBS pilot in which he plays a jury consultant inspired by the early career of “Dr. Phil” McGraw. The pilot was written by McGraw and Paul Attanasio and directed by Rodrigo Garcia, executive produced by Attanasio, Phil and Jay McGraw, Justin Falvey & Darryl Frank of Amblin Television and Garcia. CBS Throughout his time on Bull, Weatherly has never stopped teasing a return to NCIS on social typical tweet came in September 2021, when he posted an image of him and de Pablo together. He wrote "Let's just say... they ended up in Paris. Anyone think that's a possibility?"Then in December, he posted a selfie with the caption "This guy woke me up this morning. Then I realized it was still a dream. He wouldn't stop talking about Gibbs. And his shoulder holster. ncis dream." Many fans have taken these recent comments as hints that he is planning a return to the show – as well as a hint that Mark Harmon will make a return as Gibbs after exiting the show earlier in the fact, he has been hinting at a DiNozzo return ever since he left. In the statement announcing his departure in 2016, Weatherly said "[DiNozzo] will live on in the hearts and minds of the viewers and is embedded in the show...I would absolutely be open to anything and everything including things that no one's even thought of yet."A year later, he told Entertainment Tonight that he would "never rule anything out" with regards NCIS. And then in 2018, he tweeted "I will always be ready to play DiNozzo when the time is right."When Weatherly quit the show, he said it was de Pablo leaving that convinced him to leave. He said at a Television Critics Association event in 2016 "The badinage and sparring and flirting between [Tony and Ziva] and how they would swing from siblings to near lovers and back to buddies, that was gone." Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo on "NCIS." A Ziva-Tony reunion has been high on viewers' wishlists for years. CBS As such, it seems that Weatherly is only likely to return if it was alongside the Ziva actor. With regards to this, NCIS co-showrunner Steven D. Binder said to TVLine in 2020 "We've really played, for now, all of the cards there are to play [with Ziva], so we have no plans at the moment. but we're certainly always open to it."However, in this world of streaming services mining their intellectual property into endless spin-offs, we can never rule out a Ziva and Tony spin-off over at CBS' streaming home, Paramount+.However, Weatherly's statement about Bull ending suggests that, for now, he may be looking to move onto new projects. He tweeted "I've decided it's time to pursue new creative challenges and bring his story to a close."NCIS Season 19 airs Mondays at 9 ET / 8 CT on CBS. Michael Weatherly's announcement early this year about him leaving the hit drama "NCIS" after being a regular cast for over a decade has definitely shocked the fans of the show and in a recent interview, the actor who plays Special Agent Tony DiNozzo revealed the real reason why he is leaving and his former partner Cote de Pablo has something to do with it. In an interview with TV Insider, Michael Weatherly said that after Cote de Pablo left "NCIS," he somehow realized the need to contemplate about staying or leaving. Weatherly said, "Their [Tony DiNozzo and Cote de Pablo's Ziva] great dynamic, the bandinage and sparring and flirting between and how they would swing from siblings to near lovers and back to buddies, that was gone." "And then I got to the point where I felt I'd stayed at the party for too long," Weatherly added. "I would look around the room and other people were really in sync and having fun. The show was a huge success, but I just suddenly realized that I probably had other things that I should be doing. And then the wanderlust set in. I directed a documentary. I have a production company. And I wanted to spend time with my family." Weatherly also paid tribute to his role Tony DiNozzo saying that he learned a lot from the guy. He said that playing DiNozzo has made him do the "widest range of acting" he could imagine. Meanwhile, the finale episode of "NCIS" Season 13 entitled "Family First" will be airing on May 17 and according to showrunner Gary Glasberg, fans will be up for an "emotional roller coaster." "People should absolutely be planning on some really serious, heart-wrenching moments. There'll be tissues involved," Glasberg said. "I want people to understand that Tony DiNozzo will always be part of this family-but they should also prepare for an emotional roller coaster," he added. Any dedicated “NCIS” fan remembers the will-they-won’t-they romance between Agents Ziva David and Tony Dinozzo. The two began exchanging witty banter in 2005 and sparks flew for the next eight years. The two characters officially got together in 2017 after both actors left the show. Michael Weatherly, who played Dinozzo on the show, and Cote de Pablo who played David, never got together in real life. But that didn’t stop fans from wishing romance would bloom both on and off the the fact that they never dated, the two actors remained close friends after the show. They even collaborated on what promised to be a sort-of Dinozzo/David reboot for the show “MIA” in 2018. The two planned to executive produce and star in the show about a new homicide detective who is assigned to an experienced, by-the-book partner to solve cases in Miami. Unfortunately, the show fell through and fans never got to see the two actors reunite. However, Weatherly revealed that he’s frequently reminded of the similarities between his onscreen love interest and his real-life wife, Bojana Janković. During an interview in 2018, Weatherly talked about how his wife and his “NCIS” co-star bond. “Oh no, I mean Cote will tell you you’re wrong the minute you’re wrong,” said Weatherly. “She calls me Shetty. She’s like, Shetty, I know you think you’re right but you’re wrong.’He added that she has that in common with his wife.“She and my wife get along very well, of course, because they both know that I’m wrong all the time.”Michael Weatherly talks about Cote de Pablo and “NCIS”Did Michael Weatherly Get Emotional When Co-Star Cote De Pablo Left NCIS’?Everyone knows that when a beloved character leaves a show, it’s kind of heartbreaking. This was certainly the case when actress Cote de Pablo left “NCIS” in 2013. The storyline revealed that her Ziva David no longer wanted to live the life of an NCIS agent. Tony tries to convince her to stay but she already made her decision. She leaves both Tony and her job to pursue a more peaceful life. However, that peace is interrupted when she falls victim to a terrorist attack in later seasons of “NCIS.”During an interview in 2013, Weatherly talked about Ziva’s departure from the show.“It came about pretty quick. Right before we were getting ready to go into production…And it’s been a very moving and just sort of deep experience, profound, if you will, working through the transition,” said Weatherly.“I think it’s going to be a doozy for audiences,” he added. “So, bring some kleenex.”When asked by the show’s host whether or not he got emotional when Cote de Pablo left the show, Weatherly replied, “I got so emotional, I grew a beard. That’s what happens.” NCIS May 8, 2018 While you are preparing for the exit of Pauley Perrette from NCIS on CBS Tuesday night, why not get a few thoughts from one of the other notable actresses to depart the show in the past? The departure of Cote de Pablo and the Ziva David character remains one of the series’ saddest moments — she was an iconic part of the ensemble who brought so much passion and resolve to the team. She excelled out in the field, but also had a vulnerability that was incredibly appealing and relatable to viewers. Of course, there was also the prospective relationship between Ziva and Tony Michael Weatherly that became very much beloved by fans in its own right. Fans waited for years to see something happen between the two and while there was a moment in Ziva’s final episode, it feels pretty clear that many people out there wanted so much more. Weatherly departed the series in season 13 and is now the star of Bull, more than two years after Cote’s exit, with a storyline that was tied closely to her character. In it, he learned that Ziva had presumably died and had a daughter with Tony named Tali that he was previously unaware of. Presumably, Tony and Tali are off living a life somewhere else — Ziva’s memory is therefore still alive, and Tony has an opportunity to think about this great love of his life every single day. So what does Cote think about the way in which Tony’s exit was handled? While at the Riviera International Film Festival in the midst of the Masterclass “For the love of acting the business and the hearth,” the actress opened up a little bit about Michael’s departure and the storyline that surrounded it. Here is some of what she had to say on the subject “I think with Michael’s exit, he did the best with what they gave him. I think it was actually quite beautiful that this child that he didn’t know he had comes to reunite with her father. I think that’s nice.” CarterMatt reported years ago that Cote decided against appearing in the final episodes, but she still watched the episode and texted with Weatherly about it. Part of the problem with Weatherly’s exit, at least to us, was that it felt relatively rushed in a short period of time. Yet, a big part of that may have simply had to do with the fact that NCIS is the sort of show that almost has to rush things. They are a procedural, and for syndication reasons they often don’t like to stretch storylines beyond an episode or two. As for whether or not Ziva is still alive something that we personally believe to be the case — Ziva wouldn’t leave this earth so easily, that’s something that Cote also addressed during the Masterclass appearance “For me, it’s very funny, it’s like no body, no crime. In a different world, it would have been great to see those characters reunite and see each other one more time. What happened from there, it is what it is, but I think it would have been interesting.” Could this reunion still happen? We’re never giving up hope, though it would take a Herculean effort for it to come together. For starters, the writers would need an incredible strong and smart story to court Cote back to the show. Following that, they would need the time in the season in order to tell it. From there, you’d also need to ensure Weatherly’s availability if you want to tie her return to Tony and Tali. The problem there is that he is over doing Bull on CBS, a series that films almost as many episodes as NCIS on the other side of the country. It would take some very shrewd scheduling and a heck of a lot of planning, but we are someone who likes to take a never-say-never approach with such things. It would be an wonderful TV moment, a chance to both get closure and to see an incredible Cote performance that many out there have been looking forward to seeing.
